Micro Vs. System Model # BX-301
- TRIVIA -
Released on July 31, 1984 (Tuesday) in Japan. It was the first title on the Micro Vs System series.
In America, the game was originally known as Punch-Out!! (named after the popular franchise), though when the game was included in Game & Watch Gallery 4 they changed the name back to Boxing. The only difference between Boxing and Punch-Out!! were the names and the box. The American box had artwork that was made specifcally for it.

What Micro Vs Boxing wants from you
Micro Vs. System: Boxing (Nintendo, 1984) is a tabletop two-player boxing LCD: you sit on the right in a 2D view under Micro Vs chrome. Your job is punch timing and defense literacy—tabletop packaging does not block for you. Learn Game A/B and versus flow before inventing high-score tourism. Treat Micro Vs Boxing as a 1984 dual-player exam, not a free twin of later Punch-Out!! cabinets.
First minutes in Micro Vs Boxing
First rounds: Game A or fair versus, learn punch and guard timing on the right-side fighter, and finish a real bout without rage. Soft-continue after KOs while LCD grammar warms. Early play teaches Boxing honesty—survive clean rounds before inventing ego versus tourism through every unread punch pattern on the 1984 face.
Core systems in Micro Vs Boxing
Punch/guard verbs, 2D ring view (you on the right), Game A/B, two-player Micro Vs wiring, and LCD quirks define the systems. Depth is reading opponent patterns under tiny-screen pressure. Tabletop chrome densifies distraction—keep eyes on the rival’s punch telegraph when gloves close in, not on the Micro Vs unit, on Boxing.
Score, continues, and resources in Micro Vs Boxing
Wins and surviving rounds meter the session; KOs tax continues. Continues while learning are fine. Extending means fewer blind mash punches and fewer ignored guards. Farming easy CPU forever without denser versus still leaves Boxing unread. Progress is rounds you can narrate mid-bout, not one lucky Micro Vs screenshot.
Mistakes that burn credits in Micro Vs Boxing
Common Micro Vs Boxing fails: mashing punches; never guarding; rage-restarting after one KO; and pasting Punch-Out!! muscle onto this LCD. Also: sightseeing the tabletop unit mid-bout instead of reading punches. Next credit: Game A only, timed punches and guards—stop mash tourism on later Boxing sessions.
Next steps after Micro Vs Boxing
When Boxing rounds stay clean without constant KO empties, compare other Micro Vs System titles deliberately for timing drift, then return with punch notes. Keep playing until mash empties stop ending every session mid-bout. Cousin G&W fighting toys help as contrast after Game A feels automatic—not as escape from patterns you still mash. Clear one careful Game A bout before you chase ego versus again on Boxing.
