Game & Watch: Lion — play guide
What G&W Lion wants from you
Game & Watch: Lion (Nintendo, 1981) puts you in control of two lion tamers keeping lions in the cage under G&W chrome. Your job is dual-tamer literacy—Lion branding does not cage for you. Learn Game A before inventing Game B tourism. Treat Lion as a 1981 dual-point exam, not a free twin of single-lane defense toys.
First minutes in G&W Lion
First sessions: Game A, learn which tamer needs to act when a lion threatens escape, and clear a real streak without rage. Soft-continue after escapes while LCD grammar warms. Early play teaches Lion honesty—survive clean cage holds before inventing Game B tourism through every unread lion break on the 1981 face.
Core systems in G&W Lion
Two tamer verbs, lion escape threats as wired, Game A/B, and G&W LCD quirks define the systems. Depth is prioritizing which side of the cage needs a tamer under tiny-screen pressure. Circus chrome densifies distraction—keep eyes on both cage sides when lions densify, not on tamer art alone, in Lion.
Score, continues, and resources in G&W Lion
Successful holds and score streaks meter the session; escapes tax continues. Continues while learning are fine. Extending means fewer ignored sides and fewer panic tamer mashes. Farming easy Game A forever without denser Game B still leaves Lion unread. Progress is streaks you can narrate mid-hold, not one lucky G&W screenshot.
Mistakes that burn credits in G&W Lion
Common G&W Lion fails: camping one tamer; ignoring the other cage side; rage-restarting after one escape; and sightseeing circus art mid-break. Also: pasting single-lane toys onto dual-tamer pressure. Next credit: Game A only, scan both sides—stop single-tamer tourism on later Game & Watch Lion sessions.
Next steps after G&W Lion
When Lion streaks stay clean without constant escape empties, compare Green House deliberately for multi-point defense drift, then return with tamer notes. Keep playing until ignored-side empties stop ending every session mid-hold. Cousin G&W dual-point toys help as contrast after Game A feels automatic—not as escape from lions you still ignore. Clear one careful Game A streak before you chase Game B again on Lion.
