Collecting numbered pods allows the player to attach ship parts that increase firepower. Activating Formation Mode lets the player split these modules to cover a wider range of shooting positions. Reaching maximum power transforms the ship into a fiery phoenix, which is required to defeat the final boss encountered at the end of the stages.
