About Balloon Bomber

Destroy balloon bombs dropped from bi-planes by moving a shooter left and right to fire shots. Missed bombs create craters on the ground that act as impassable obstacles, restricting your movement area and making it harder to dodge incoming projectiles. This Taito arcade title supports up to two players.

Balloon Bomber — play guide

What Balloon Bomber wants from you

Balloon Bomber (Taito, 1980) is a left-right gallery shooter: shoot balloon bombs from biplanes; missed bombs crater the ground and shrink your movement before continues empty. Shot honesty beats spray. Learn crater rules cold—do not paste Space Invaders charts blindly. Calm first waves until crater management is narratable; balloon chrome is packaging, not free floors.

First minutes in Balloon Bomber

First waves: take clean singles on balloons, protect ground space, ignore scenic bait that invites empty-mag spray. Power-cycle once so Taito chrome stops looking like Space Invaders. Early waves teach Balloon Bomber grammar: planned shots before spray routes that crater mid-wave when denser balloon packs arrive.

Core systems in Balloon Bomber

Left-right move, shot, balloon bombs, ground craters, lives/continues, and Balloon Bomber UI define the systems. Skill is crater literacy under pressure—not letting misses shrink you into a corner. After continues, reconfirm ground state before racing again. Keep a one-sentence crater rule before the second wave.

Score, continues, and resources in Balloon Bomber

Wave clears and survival score the run; hits and cratered floors tax continues. Continues are coins. Fewer panic sprays and fewer ignored balloons keep credits alive. Farming early waves forever without reading denser packs still leaves Balloon Bomber unread. Progress is Taito chrome that no longer forces crater-death loops mid-wave on later boards.

Mistakes that burn credits in Balloon Bomber

Spray-firing every silhouette, ignoring crater growth, never prioritizing low balloons, tunneling on scenery while a miss finishes the floor, and emptying the mag into chrome mid-wave burn credits. Power-cycling mid-tilt without a plan burns another credit. Next credit: clean singles, protect ground—stop mash tourism for scenery and crater panic on later Taito boards.

Next steps after Balloon Bomber

When Balloon Bomber waves clear without constant crater deaths, compare Space Invaders deliberately, then return with crater drills. Keep playing until panic-spray empties stop ending sessions mid-wave on later boards. Cousin gallery shooters help as contrast after Balloon Bomber feels automatic—not as escape from waves you still spray for chrome. Clear one full wave carefully before you chase vanity spray again.
