About Torus
Manipulating a peg allows players to collect rings from the bottom of three columns and redistribute them by pushing or popping them onto different stacks. Success requires matching the same color across any row in all three columns to clear them before falling rings fill the columns to the top.
Player layout in our catalog: 2P sim.

Torus — play guide
What Torus wants from you
Torus (1996) is a column/ring puzzle: manipulate a peg to collect rings from three columns and redistribute them by push/pop until any row matches the same color across all three stacks. Pattern honesty beats mash. Learn Torus’s push/pop rules cold—do not paste Towers of Hanoi folklore blindly. Calm first boards until safe redistributes are narratable; torus chrome is packaging, not free solves.
First minutes in Torus
First boards: make one push/pop at a time, watch how rows form, ignore scenic bait that invites panic redistributes. Power-cycle once so Torus art stops looking like a different stack puzzle. Early stages teach Torus grammar: planned redistributes before rush routes that soft-lock mid-board when denser color pressure arrives.
Core systems in Torus
Three columns, rings, peg push/pop, row-match win, stages/timers, and Torus UI define the systems. Skill is leaving stacks that can still match—not greed-moving the obvious ring that entombs the row. After continues, reconfirm column state before racing again. Keep a one-sentence row-goal note before the second board.
Score, continues, and resources in Torus
Clears and stage progress score the run; soft-locks and timeouts tax continues. Continues are coins. Fewer panic redistributes and fewer greed soft-locks keep credits alive. Farming early boards forever without learning denser color layouts still leaves Torus unread. Progress is chrome that no longer forces soft-locks mid-stage on later boards.
Mistakes that burn credits in Torus
Mash-pushing every ring, ignoring row goals, never waiting for a safe redistribute, tunneling on sparkle while the board soft-locks, and clearing one column completely then trapping the rest burn credits. Power-cycling mid-tilt without a plan burns another credit. Next credit: planned push/pop only, leave a match path—stop mash tourism for scenery and timer panic on later Torus boards.
Next steps after Torus
When Torus boards clear without constant soft-locks, compare other stack/ring puzzles deliberately, then return with slow-redistribute drills. Keep playing until panic-push empties stop ending sessions mid-board on later stages. Cousin stack puzzles help as contrast after Torus feels automatic—not as escape from boards you still soft-lock for chrome. Slow-clear one full stage before you chase vanity speed again.
