- TRIVIA -

Action Hollywood was released in June 1995.

The game features several stolen elements:

* The company logo at the start clearly uses the Windows 3.1 shutdown chime. * The attract screen's lion is a poor quality rendering of the iconic MGM lion. * The musical jingle that plays if you select the Galaxy Wars stage is unmistakably the beginning of the Star Trek: The Next Generation theme. * Several stage backgrounds in Transylvania are Doom textures. * Almost every single sound effect seems to have been stolen from either Doom 2, Hexen, or Jazz Jackrabbit. While Doom and its sequel DID use a stock sound library as basis for many of their sounds, Action Hollywood specifically uses the Commander Keen pain sound used in Doom 2's super secret map, which is a giveaway as it was made in-house.

Action Hollywood — play guide

What Action Hollywood wants from you

Action Hollywood is an arcade light-gun / rail shoot cab: clear stages with aim honesty before continues empty. Shot honesty beats spray. Learn Action Hollywood windows cold—do not paste House of the Dead charts blindly. Calm first stages until clean singles are narratable; actionhw chrome is packaging, not free invulnerability or free stage clears on every board for vanity sprays into every silhouette.

First minutes in Action Hollywood

First stages: take clean singles, peek target priority, ignore scenic bait that invites empty-mag spray. Power-cycle once so Action Hollywood chrome stops looking like House of the Dead. Early stages teach Action Hollywood grammar: planned singles before spray routes that miss mid-stage when denser packs arrive on later boards. Hold that grammar before vanity sprays.

Core systems in Action Hollywood

Aim, shot, reload as wired, stage goals, lives/continues, and Action Hollywood UI define the systems. Skill is shot discipline under pressure—not spraying every silhouette into a miss. After continues, reconfirm stage and ammo state before racing again. Keep a one-sentence priority-before-spray rule ready before the second stage starts on this light-gun / rail shoot set.

Score, continues, and resources in Action Hollywood

Stage clears and clean hits score the run; misses and empty mags tax continues. Continues are coins. Fewer panic sprays and fewer ignored peeks keep credits alive. Farming early stages forever without reading denser packs still leaves Action Hollywood unread. Progress is chrome that no longer forces miss loops mid-stage on later boards, not a pasted clear.

Mistakes that burn credits in Action Hollywood

Spray-firing every silhouette, ignoring target priority, never waiting for a clean window, tunneling on scenery while a miss fails you, and freezing until the frame fills burn credits. Power-cycling mid-tilt without a plan burns another credit. Next credit: singles first, priority on plan—stop mash tourism for scenery and spray panic on later boards.

Next steps after Action Hollywood

When Action Hollywood stages clear without constant miss fails, compare House of the Dead deliberately, then return with single-shot drills. Keep playing until panic-spray empties stop ending sessions mid-stage on later boards. Cousin light-gun cabinets help as contrast after Action Hollywood feels automatic—not as escape from stages you still spray for chrome. Clear one full stage carefully before you chase vanity sprays again.
