About Digger (CVS)

Digging strategically placed holes within a changing maze allows you to capture and fill in invading creatures before they destroy your man. Players navigate three distinct rounds of gameplay, facing an increasing number of enemies that begin behind a wall. Defeating four creatures in the first round is required to progress toward the more difficult subsequent stages.

Digger (CVS) — play guide

What Digger (CVS) wants from you

Digger (CVS, 1980) digs holes in a changing maze to capture and fill invading creatures across three rounds of rising difficulty before continues empty. Dig honesty beats mash. Learn CVS dig timing cold—do not paste Dig Dug charts blindly. Calm first rounds until dig routes are narratable; digger chrome is packaging, not free fills.

First minutes in Digger (CVS)

First rounds: dig holes on plan, lure creatures in, fill on timing before rush tourism. Power-cycle once so CVS chrome stops looking like Dig Dug. Early rounds teach Digger grammar: planned digs before mash paths that death-tax mid-round when denser creature scripts arrive on later CVS digger boards.

Core systems in Digger (CVS)

Dig/fill, changing maze, creature AI, three difficulty rounds, lives/continues, and Digger UI define the systems. Skill is dig literacy under pressure—not digging into a corner death. After continues, reconfirm maze state before racing again. Keep a one-sentence dig-fill rule ready before the second round.

Score, continues, and resources in Digger (CVS)

Captures and survival score the run; deaths tax continues. Continues are coins. Fewer panic digs and fewer ignored fills keep credits alive. Farming early rounds forever without reading denser scripts still leaves CVS unread. Progress is chrome that no longer forces death loops mid-round on later boards.

Mistakes that burn credits in Digger (CVS)

Rushing every dig, trapping yourself, ignoring fill timing, tunneling on sparkle while a creature finishes you, and camping one corner until surrounded burn credits. Power-cycling mid-tilt without a plan burns another credit. Next credit: dig on plan, fill on time—stop mash tourism for scenery and creature panic on later boards.

Next steps after Digger (CVS)

When Digger rounds clear without constant death loops, compare Dig Dug deliberately, then return with dig-fill drills on CVS. Keep playing until panic-dig empties stop ending sessions mid-round on later boards. Cousin dig mazes help as contrast after Digger feels automatic—not as escape from rounds you still rush for chrome. Clear one full round carefully before you chase vanity digs again.
