About Rastan (World Rev 1)
Slash through hordes of chimeras and harpies using an 8-way joystick and two-button control scheme. Combining the jump and attack buttons allows the player to adjust jump height and weapon swing direction. This fantasy-themed side-scroller features a health gauge system and limited lives as the barbarian warrior quests to slay a dragon.

Rastan (World Rev 1) — play guide
What Rastan wants from you
Rastan (Taito) is a platform / slash cab: clear stages with slash honesty and jump peeks before continues empty. Slash honesty beats mash. Learn Rastan windows cold—do not paste Ghosts ’n Goblins charts blindly—the sword and stage scripts are their own exam. Calm first stages until slash timing is narratable; rastan chrome is packaging, not free invulnerability or free stage clears on every board for vanity leaps into every pit while a hit finishes the life.
First minutes in Rastan
First stages: peek pits, time slashes, and learn power windows before panic-mash tourism through every gap. Power-cycle once so Rastan chrome stops looking like Ghosts ’n Goblins. Early stages teach Rastan grammar: planned slashes before mash routes that death-tax mid-stage when denser hazard packs arrive on later boards. Hold that grammar before vanity leaps. One clean stretch with composure left beats three fall deaths that looked flashy until a pit you ignored arrived.
Core systems in Rastan
Run, jump, slash, special as wired, stage goals, lives/continues, and Rastan UI define the systems. Skill is slash literacy under pressure—not mashing every leap into a pit. After continues, reconfirm stage and power state before racing again. Keep a one-sentence peek-before-jump rule ready before the second stage starts on this Taito barbarian set, and treat hazard peeks as tempo tools rather than scenery you notice after the fall.
Score, continues, and resources in Rastan
Stage clears and survival score the run; falls and hits tax continues. Continues are coins while learning denser later boards. Fewer panic jumps and fewer ignored peeks keep credits alive. Farming early stages forever without reading denser packs still leaves Rastan unread. Progress is Taito chrome that no longer forces death loops mid-stage on later boards, not a pasted clear that still mash-jumps every gap without a slash plan.
Mistakes that burn credits in Rastan
Mash-jumping every gap, ignoring hazards, never peeking pits, tunneling on scenery while a fall finishes you, and rage-continuing after fall streaks burn Rastan credits. Power-cycling mid-tilt without a plan burns another credit. Next credit: peek first, slash on plan—stop mash tourism for scenery and platform panic on later Taito boards.
Next steps after Rastan
When Rastan stages clear without constant falls, compare Black Tiger and Magic Sword deliberately for platform contrast, then return with slash drills on the denser boards that still tax you. Fall streaks shrink once panic-mash leaps stop mid-gap. Cousin Taito platform cabinets help as contrast after Rastan feels automatic—not as escape from stages you still mash for chrome. Clear one careful stage before vanity leaps return on denser Taito boards.
